What is NIL?

NIL stands for Name, Image, and Likeness, and gives college athletes the right to profit from those three things.

Who is eligible to profit from NIL?

Any college athlete in a state where this legislature has passed.

How can I make money from NIL?

There are many ways! It's all about getting creative. Most players agree to endorsement deals with brands and local businesses, but you can also attend birthday parties, training camps, and more!

What is an advisor?

An advisor is someone (often an agent) who provides guidance for the athlete and his family regarding the player's value and professional opportunities beyond college.

How are advisors different from agents?

Advisors can only provide advice and insight, whereas an agent negotiates contracts.

As a college athlete, can I have an agent?

A college baseball player can ONLY have an advisor. An agent can not negotiate any contracts while an athlete is still in college, or they will lose their college eligibility.

What is a baseball agent?

An agent is someone who negotiates contracts and communicates with the MLB on your behalf to ensure you are getting the right opportunities and pay. They also help players get endorsement deals. 

​

When can I hire an agent?

Once a player has entered the MLB draft pool and no longer has college eligibility.
